Located at the site of present-day Columbus Park, Collect Pond supplied early NYC's water until it became polluted during the late 18th century. The above maps chronicle (in reverse, from top to bottom) the location of the pond, with and without it. The site of the pond is indicated by a translucent rectangle, from map to map.
